Daniel Bwala, the president’s special adviser on policy communication, described the Final SARS Protest as the beginning of a “irresponsible protest” in Nigeria.
The final SARS protests were held in major Nigerian cities in 2020 and lasted for two weeks as Nigerians demanded the dissolution of the special anti-robbery squad, the Nigerian police station known for its brutal and extrajudicial killings.
On Wednesday morning, February 12, Bwala said on News Central Television that the final Salz protests marked the beginning of irresponsible protests in the country. He believes the previous protests have been organized, but the Endars lack structure.
He said: “You want to shut down the law and order in the country. There is no police anywhere in the world that would shut down.
“End Sars is the beginning and foundation of irresponsible protests. All the protests we held in the country before the end of SARS were organized. That’s why they are called organized protests.
“But the government did not shut down protesters. However, there was something unfortunate about law enforcement, and I admit that. That’s why a team was formed to investigate and published its findings. However, many of the subsequent reports were based on Fake news, especially from CNN, exaggerates several aspects of the story.”
