In other news, the Anambra state government has closed a shrine in the village of Emufu in Ochiya, the local government of Ishiyala, allegedly run by self-proclaimed local doctor Ekene Igboegbueze, known as Eke Hit . The shrine is reportedly used for supernatural rituals of wealth.
Confirming the development, Ken Emeakayi, Special Adviser for Governor Chukwuma Soludo, said in community safety that the government has taken action after multiple complaints from Okija residents about illegal activities in Igboegbueze. The crackdown also triggered the viral video, with Ekene allegedly admitting to enforcing Oke Ite, Yahoo Plus and Awele, an offence considered by Anambra State Homeland Security Act.
As part of law enforcement, the government also sealed all property obtained by the suspect through so-called illegal business. In addition, all items recovered from the shrine will be forensic testing and further measures will be taken based on the discovery.
In this matter, Chinenye Ihenko, director of operations at Agunechemba Security Gutt, condemned the rise of fake local doctors and pastors, noting that their deceptive activities have brought a rich syndrome to young people. He urged young people to avoid patronizing such people, warning that their quick promise of wealth was nothing more than deception.
