U.S. Congressman Scott Perry claimed that the United States International Development Agency (USAID) has been providing funding for terrorist groups including Boko Haram. Perry, a Republican representing Pennsylvania, filed a claim at the opening ceremony on government efficiency held by the Subcommittee on Thursday, February 14.
At the meeting, Perry asserted that U.S. taxpayers’ funds were abused to support extremist groups.
“Who got some money? Will this name ring the bell for anyone in the room? Because your money, your money, $697 million a year, and in Madrasas, ISIS, Al Qaeda, Boko Haram, Isis Khorasan, cash raising for the horror training camp. That’s the funding,” Perry said.
He also criticized the US Agency for International Development’s $136 million expenditure on building 120 schools in Pakistan, claiming “zero evidence” about the construction of schools.
“Over the past 20 years, USAID has spent $840 million on education-related programs in Pakistan. It includes $136 million for 120 schools, with zero evidence that any of them were built. Why Is there any evidence? The Inspector General is unable to participate. “Perry said.
He further questioned the legitimacy of the USDA funding program aimed at women’s education in Afghanistan and believed that such a move would be unrealistic given the Taliban restrictions on women.
“If you think the program’s lasting outpost program is called “Women’s Scholarship Donation”, which earns $60 million a year, or the young women’s leaders receive about $5 million a year, that’s women, if you read the inspector, they Let the general report tell you that the Taliban does not allow women to speak in public, but you believe in some way that the American people should believe that the money is to improve Afghan women. No,” Perry said.
“You are funding terrorism, which is coming through the US satellite. It’s not just Afghanistan, because Pakistan is right next door,” he added.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has previously called on the United States Agency for International Development to close and accuse corruption. Trump said in an article on his Truth Social Platform that the agency is part of a bigger effort to eliminate government waste and bureaucracy.
Trump’s appointment of Elon Musk, who led the newly formed government efficiency department, also criticized the United States Agency for International Development and accused it of rogue operations. Musk described the institution as “a venomous snake nest that hates America’s radical Marxists” and vows to close it. He also claimed that the U.S. Agency for International Development had been involved in “the work of the rogue CIA” and even “funded bioweapon research including Covid-19, killing millions of people.”
Trump stressed that his administration’s goal is to “dismantle the administration’s bureaucracy, cut too much regulations, cut wasted spending and reorganize federal agencies, which is crucial to the “Save America” movement.”
