Mudashiru Obasa, a former spokesman for the Lagos State Capitol, filed a lawsuit in the Lagos High Court seeking immediate restoration.
Obasa, who was removed from office on January 13, 2025, is challenging the legitimacy of his impeachment and demanding that the court cancel the decision and restore his Speaker.
Vanguard reported that the lawsuit was filed on Thursday, February 13 with the title of current spokesman Lasbat Mojisola Meranda and the Lagos State Capitol as defendants.
Obasa argued that he was not properly called by the impeachment plenary, which made the lawsuit unconstitutional. He argued that legislators met during recess without formal reunion, contrary to constitutional provisions and regular orders of parliament.
The lawsuit insists that impeachment was conducted outside of legal proceedings and should therefore be invalid. The case has not been assigned to the judge and no hearing date has been arranged.
