A gunman suspected of being a kidnapper kidnapped a Catholic priest, pastor, parish priest, in the Diocese of Port Harcourt. Livinus Maurice and two other in Rivers State.
Father Maurice is a parish priest of St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Isokpo in the Ikwell Local Government Area of the state was kidnapped with two other people, whose identities were visited along the hospital from Elele-Isokpo Road Not disclosed at the time.
A statement signed by Prime Minister Pastor Bernadine Anaele on behalf of the Bishop on behalf of the Bishop said the incident occurred on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
The statement added: “Although this has been reported to the security agency, faithful Christ urging Harcourt diocese and throughout Nigeria, faithful Christ is urged to strengthen prayer for the safe release of pastors whom he agrees with.”
A spokesman for SP Grace Iringe-Koko, commander of Rivers State Police Department, confirmed the incident.
He said the headquarters had spread trawls to ensure the priest and two others were rescued and arrested.
