The Ministry of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday blocked a former Abia state legislator Obinna Ichita from visiting the leaders of the Nnamdi Kanu’s local people (IPOB).
The security outfit also prevented Kanu’s legal team and his family from getting in touch.
Kanu’s chief consultant Aloy Ejimakor made the disclosure through an article he shared on his account X.
He described the DSS’s actions as a violation of the Nigerian Constitution and court orders.
He wrote:Alert/Update: Today, DSS arbitrarily rejected us (the legal team), former members of the Abia State Capitol, and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s family for a visit. This blatant violation of the Nigerian Constitution and an order to uphold the court. ”
Since DSS was rescheduled and a remarkable rendition from Kenya to Nigeria, Kanu has been locked in by DSS.
Since returning in 2021, the court has released and acquitted all felony charges of terrorism and rebellion, but the Nigerian government has refused to grant him freedom.
Meanwhile, Judge Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court of Abuja adjourned Kanu’s trial indefinitely.
