So-called assault: Portable defense pleaded not guilty, granted N2M bail

The controversial singer and Zaazoo Ze Crooner, Habeeb Okikiola (commonly known as portable) have been granted bail by Isabo Ragistrate Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun.

The singer was arraigned in court this morning on five charges of conspiracy, assault and restrictions, and was armed by knives and guns, and could cause harm.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges. His nine aides were arraigned on similar charges before magistrate Ol Oke.

Nine suspects are: Nerden Warren, 21, Adetola Ote, 19 Samuel Know, 20, a large defender, 27, Wallower, 27.

The defendant was arraigned on five charges of felony, assault and restriction and armed with knives and guns that could lead to a violation of peace, intending to kill peace.

They allegedly beat, restricted and hindered Abidemi Onabanjo, Ramon Lateef and Akinpelumi Oyero of a town planner. The defendant and the portable allegedly beat the three town planning officials while performing legal duties at the ODOGWU bar owned by a popular hip-hop musician.

After pleading for the charges not to plead guilty, his lawyer, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, urged the court to give him bail. His lawyer told the court that the singer “is remorseful now and has learned his lesson.”

Magistrate Ol Oke granted N2M bail and secured a margin in a similar amount with a deposit and adjourned the case until March 5 for trial.
