The personality of American TV stations, Simon Guobadia, the estranged husband of Porsha Williams, was detained by immigration and customs enforcement.
The Nigerian-born businessman is currently at the Stewart Detention Center in Lompkin, Georgia, according to U.S. Department of Homeland Security records.
Cubadia was brought to ice custody during President Trump’s massive deportation program, and he signed several executive orders last month after returning to the Oval Office after his second term.
The 60-year-old immigrated to the United States from Nigeria in 1982 and was allegedly overdue his visa. According to Atlanta’s WSB-TV 2, he was declared deported in 1985.
Cubadia was arrested in 1987 for bank and credit card fraud. He was later deported to Nigeria in 1992 after being arrested twice. But, in a month he was able to return.
Then, in 2016, the reality TV star applied for citizenship. However, he was rejected by the U.S. government because his former identity was “illegalized”.
Guobadia filed several complaints and appeals in an attempt to be declared a naturalized citizen. However, his efforts did not succeed.
Almost 15 months after Williams got married, he filed for divorce in the same month. The two got married in November 2022.
Since then, the two have been in a constant legal battle. In September, Williams won a legal victory when the judge ruled her in favor of the former couple.
In November, court documents showed Williams was granted temporary ownership of temporary residence and gave her “unrestricted” rights to shoot and produce television, movies or social media at home.”
