Man drowned in Ogun while trying to retrieve a phone

A 31-year-old man, identified as a Sunday Jimo, was submerged in a well at 10:00 a.m. on February 22, 2025 while trying to retrieve his cell phone.

State Police Commander spokesman CSP Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident to journalists, saying the incident was reported by Oja-Odan resident Kabiru Aladeshayi Ayigbere, who said he witnessed the deceased attempt to enter one Next to his store.

Jimo reportedly insisted on retrieving a phone call that accidentally got caught in the well, despite warning of dangerous behavior.

Unfortunately, when Aladeshayi was away, Jimoh entered the well and drowned.

After receiving the report, the detective quickly responded to the scene and contacted rescue experts to recover the body. The preliminary investigation found no signs of violence, confirming that the incident was an unfortunate accident. ”

She mentioned that the families of the deceased had been notified of their request for the burial of the remains according to Muslim rituals.

“Ogun State Police Command expressed deep condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased and urged the public to act cautiously when dealing with such dangerous situations,” she said
