    Tinubu approved the relocation of 29 correctional centers from urban areas

    • President Bola Tinubu approved the relocation of 29 correctional centers in urban Nigeria.

    • Home Minister Olubunmi Tunji-ojo announced the decision during the new vehicle and guard booth for correctional services in Nigeria.

    • Relocation is designed to address infrastructure challenges and improve conditions for correctional staff and prisoners.

    President Bola Tinubu approved the relocation of 29 correctional centers in urban Nigeria.

    Home Minister Olubunmi Tunji-ojo commissioned 39 newly acquired vehicles and five resilient defender booths at the Nigerian Correction Services Department in Abuja on Friday.

    According to Tunji-Ojo, many existing correctional facilities, such as those of Suleya and Ikoyi, were established in the 1950s and are outdated.

    “Sulaija Correctional Centre was founded in 1956 and Ikoyi in 1956, and we even have facilities dating back to the 19th century. We cannot continue to work with this outdated infrastructure,” he said.

    Tunji-Ojo highlights the urgent need for modernization to improve conditions for correctional staff and prisoners.

    “The president has generously approved the process of starting the relocation of 29 correctional centers,” he said.

    The minister also assured the public the government’s commitment to reform, saying, “We have to solve these problems one by one, and I want to assure you that the process of relocating these correctional centers has begun.”

    FG claims to be the total contract of Abuja Airport runway hit N532 billion

    The federal government is considering the option of building a second runway at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja after a substantial increase in contract payments for the project.

    According to sources from the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace, the contract amount has risen to 532 billion guilds, raising concerns about costs and potential fraud.
