The deceased Hajara Saleh was M8RDER on February 21 in the Bantine community of Biu LGA.
The commissioner said the suspects allegedly conspired toward the victim K!
The woman suffered injuries on her neck, legs and hands, causing her D3ATH, Lau’an said.
He said a resident of Dadinkowa Gunda Ward warned police officers who reported the incident around 11:00 a.m.
“After arriving at the scene, officials found that the victim had been buried by her husband, Saleh Bole and other family members,” the commissioner said.
Despite the burial, police investigators managed to photograph the victim’s remains and gather key evidence, Lawan explained.
He added that two suspects were immediately arrested, one suspect remained on the entire suspect, and ensured that police launched a raid to arrest the fleeing suspect.
The Commissioner said the attack was barbaric and unreasonable, warning that allegations of witchcraft should not be used as an excuse for violence or extrajudicial killing.
“The police are totally committed to bringing all those responsible for this abominable crime to the justice. The public must understand that the law does not allow people to take matters,” he said.
According to him, the suspects face charges of criminal conspiracy, criminals and other related crimes, noting that they will be prosecuted once an investigation is concluded.
Lawan therefore urged community members to report suspicion of witchcraft or other dissatisfaction to the police rather than resort to jungle justice.
