The Bauchi State Police Department has arrested a 25-year-old housewife for her husband after a family dispute in the state’s Tafawa Balewa local government area.
Command spokesman CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil revealed this in a statement on Monday, February 24, 2025.
“On February 24, 2025, the commander of the Bauchi State Police Department arrested Salamatu danjuma.
“Preliminary investigations show that the couple faces ongoing marital challenges in custody of Salamatu’s six-year-old daughter in previous relationships.
“Although the initial discussion with the family seemed to enjoy welcoming the children into their homes, the husband later refused, which heightened tensions between them.
“When Saramatu was bent over by her husband’s rejection and a moment of heated debate, the situation escalated sharply, and the knife on the knife led to a tragic result.
A call in distress was quickly responded to, and detectives from the headquarters of the Bununu Police Department were drafted to the scene. They evacuated the victim to the goat hospital in Bennununu for immediate medical assistance.
“Unfortunately, the attending medical staff later confirmed her husband’s D3ATH due to injuries caused.
“In view of these incidents, the Police Commissioner, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, PSC, Anipr has directed the National Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a thorough and cautious investigation into the matter.
“After the investigation, appropriate legal proceedings will be taken.”
