In his statement by his Special Adviser for Information and Strategy, Its InnuanugaTinubu said the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) must be part of the review.

“We have to determine who we are, how much we are and how we manage our data. Without an accurate census, we will not be able to successfully plan employment, agriculture and food sovereignty. There are many problems without accurate data,” Tinubu said.

He reiterated his commitment to ensuring accurate and reliable figures of the national census to strengthen development programs and improve living conditions for Nigerians through more effective social security.

Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC) Nasir is onesome other members introduced to the president.

President Tinob noted that government incentives, such as the sales and distribution of fertilizers, could be easily improved with more reliable data and demographics.

The President told the delegation that biometric capture should be at the heart of the process, with multiple recognition features, including facial and speech recognition.

He said:We should do a good job of studying financial muscle before we go to meet with the development partners of the census. Before discussing the role of development partners, we should look at numbers.

“This census cessation activity cannot work with me. So it’s better for us to have a sure path. I’m going to set up a committee that allows you to study these issues critically and to do the source and application of resources. We’re at Where can I get help, what can we lift before we start announcing?”

Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator. Abubakar TagudCensus data are crucial for future planning and resource allocation, said.

“Mr. President, you reiterated your commitment to the census as the ministers retreated in 2023, so there is no doubt that your desire and commitment to conduct the census. Actually, at the last Federal Executive Committee meeting, you asked me what the question was and I told you it was just a question of lack of ability to fund census.

“Even today, before this meeting, I called the NPC Chairman and reiterated your commitment to the census. However, the committee and everyone on our team need to agree on the minimum amount we can draw on , to support the president in making the final decision.

“NPC says 40% of the funding of the 2006 census comes from development partners,” Bagdu said.

He said:Mr. Chairman, we have been holding ecosystem meetings to contact identity agencies and even geospatials chaired by the Ministry as our mandate as the supervisory department of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). Therefore, NPC, NBS, NIMC, the Ministry of Digital Economy, Passports, Social Register, Voter Register, and even Telecom Data have met with the National Space R&D Agency (NASRDA) to see the government’s availability of data and how much optimization can be made. ”

NPC Chairman Kwarra said in a speech that the last census occurred in 2006 and 19 years later, these figures are no longer related to the plan, especially for key sectors that directly affect the population.

He said 760,000 pieces have been acquired and stored in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and ensured that the committee will interact with development partners to seek support when President Tinob announced a new census.
