    Senator Natasha

Following her recent seat arrangement dispute, the Senate unanimously voted to refer Sen. Natasha Akputti-Udoahhan to the Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions Committee for disciplinary review.

Lib reported that Senator Kogi found her seat changed without her consent and participated in the shouting on February 20. The committee, chaired by Senator Neda Imaseun, has been reporting its findings for two weeks.

The decision was made after a voice vote after lawmakers revisited the dispute over the latest dispute over the allocation of seats by Akpoti-Uduaghan with Senate leaders, whose members are based on the need to uphold parliamentary rules and etiquette.

During the Senate meeting of Senate spokesman Yemi Adaramodu on February 20, he condemned what he called Akpoti-Uduaghan’s “extremely stubbornness” in motions filed under Articles 1 (b) and 10. The media was shocked by the issue since that Thursday and I had to work hard to revise the view of the Tenth Senate. The Senate is not a platform for building content, but a place for legislative and supervisory functions. ”

He urged Senate leaders to enforce discipline, warning: “There must be punished where crime is committed.”

Senate leader Adaramodu Senator Opeyemi Bamidele also praised, reaffirming the Senate’s commitment to its rules and internal order.

“No one has no objection to this issue, but we unified the rules. Under our watches, we will not allow the institution to exceed our inheritance rights. Integrity is not negotiable. ”

He dismissed the claim that the dispute was rooted in gender bias or discrimination, and took the example of senior senators who accepted the change of seats without protest.

In response, Senate President Godswill Akpabio directed the Ethics and Privileges Commission to review the entire incident and report to the chamber.

Akpabio recalls that the Senate stipulated that members were allowed to sit anywhere, but that they had to contribute with designated seats. He suggested that unfamiliarity with the Senate process could lead to disputes.

“The first day she was sworn in, she stood up to contribute, and I was worried she had even read the rules book. There is nothing wrong with being energetic, but everything wrong with not following the program. ”

He cited orders under Section 66 (2) and 55 of the Senate regulations, stressing that all senators must conduct etiquette with etiquette, including prohibiting chewing gum, drinking water or destructive during the period of the pilgrimage.

“The rules allow the Senate president to suspend the senator for at least 14 days of violations. It’s not me who sets the rules, but in the rules book.”
