President Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who ruled the All Progress Conference (APC), said the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) inherited N8,987,874,663 debt under its leadership.
Ganduje revealed this at the ongoing National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.
The meeting was held by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President of Senate Godswill Akpabio, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, State Governor, NWC Member and Spokespersons of other political parties chiefs attended the meeting.
At the gathering, Gandhi described the inherited liabilities as expenses related to pre-election legal struggles, election cases, and calls for legislation, governor and presidential elections.
“The current NWC inherits debt and legal debt, totaling N8,987,874,663, which is caused by various legal transactions,” he said.
However, he noted that National Legal Counsel Professor Abdul Kareem Kana (SAN) has been working to reduce the debt burden through dialogue and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
Ganduje called for NEC intervention, stressing that some of the party’s accounts are still decorated.
He pleaded: “We remain enthusiastic about the National Executive Committee’s intervention.”
