A gunman was injured in driving outside the court in the German city of Bielefeld.
The shocking incident happened outside the trial of Huseyin Akkurt, who was charged with links to professional boxer Besar Nimani in 2024.
At around 1:30 pm local time, three SH0Ts were opened shortly after the hearing today.
Witnesses told Bild that police outside the court shouted: “Someone is shooting outside!”
The news outlet also reported that at least two of the defendants’ family members were shot and killed. Although one leg was injured, another was said to have suffered severe injuries in the chest.
So far, a suspected perpetrator has been arrested, while another perpetrator has blocked himself in a nearby building. Police helicopters are currently hovering in the area.
A nearby school triggered an emergency alarm, forcing teachers and students to draw their own obstacles in the classroom.
Akkurt’s trial began in the end of January and strict security measures were taken to ensure the safety of all participants. According to reports, the police in the riot squad must ensure the buildings and courts and everyone entering the courts must search thoroughly.
According to a prosecution filed by the Bielefeld Prosecutor’s Office, two men ambushed Besar Nimani on March 9, 2024 and opened 16 photos in front of a shop in the city’s pedestrian area.
Nimani parked a nearby car earlier that day at his DE@th.
He bleed at the killing scene. The motive for killing remains unknown, although many people suspect it is settled in the criminal world.
Akkurt, 34, was arrested in Brussels, Belgium in July and has not commented on his allegations. Another suspect in the case, Ayman Dawoud Kirit, is said to be still running away.
