A 13-year-old marriage between a woman, Gaminana Aminat and her husband Musa Abdulrahab, dissolved in a Lugbe 1-grade court in Abuja, disrespect and assault.
Judge Aliyu Kagarko dissolved the marriage under Islamic law after Aminat prayed for divorce on grounds of misconduct and lack of respect.
Kagarko also ordered Aminat to observe “Iddah,” which was the observation three months before the verdict before getting married.
The petitioner Aminat earlier told the court that she married Abdulrahab in 2012 and they had three children under Islamic law.
Aminat said Abdulrahab had been performing poorly for years and disrespectful to her and her parents. She said that every time they had some misunderstandings, Abdulrahab would b3AT her and he would insult them when her parents or other family members tried to intervene.
She told the court that both family members tried to advise him, but he refused to follow the advice.
“We’ve been fighting each other and I can’t bear the pain anymore.
“I am no longer interested in tolerating his misconduct and disrespect to me and my parents.
“I am no longer interested in marriage, beating, lack of care for me and my children and disrespect for my parents.”
She prays that the court will dissolve the marriage on the grounds of beatings, lack of care and disrespect.
The court approved her wish.
