Mojisola Adeyeye, Director-General of the National Food and Drug Administration (NAFDAC), condemned her life and the safety of her agents.
Adeyeye urged authorities to provide them with better protection when addressing the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.
Adeyeye revealed that NAFDAC officials are facing constant dangers while cracking down on fake and substandard drugs nationwide.

“Our officials were targeted just for work. One of our staff members in Kano was kidnapped because he refused to compromise. Fortunately, the kid escaped.”
Adeyeye revealed that intensified NAFDAC enforcement has recently resulted in 87 trucks of unqualified and expired medical products, including antiretroviral drugs, condoms and other damaged medical supplies.
The crackdown was conducted in the major drug markets of Lagos, Onisha and the ABA, resulting in the confiscation of counterfeit drugs worth more than $1 trillion, the largest seizure in the agency’s history.
Despite these efforts, Adeyeye lamented the personal losses of the work, noting that she now needs 24/7 police protection.

She said: “I have two policemen living in Abuja and Lagos. I have no life anymore. Without escorts, I can’t go anywhere. That’s not the way I want to live, but I have no choice.”
Adeyeye re-emphasized the death penalty for those who committed crime drug dealers, calling them “dead merchants” and putting millions of lives at risk.
The NAFDAC boss reiterated that the agency is committed to eliminating countries that fake drugs, even in the face of threats and intimidation.

The National Food and Drug Administration and Control Agency (NAFDAC) destroyed counterfeit, expired and unqualified products worth R4.7 billion in River State.
The sabotage was conducted at the River State dump in Port Harcourt.
