Andrew Tate, a British online influencer who is under criminal investigation in Romania, and his brother, Tristan Tate, have reportedly left the country after the Trump administration imposed travel restrictions on officials that forced them to impose in ongoing SX trafficking cases. News.az reported that the brothers boarded the flight Thursday morning and he asked not to be named because of the sensitivity of the matter. They are believed to have left the country on a private jet, and the source added that the brothers will head to the U.S. passports after Romanian authorities returned the documents to them. It was after Trump administration officials earlier this month put pressure on Romanian authorities to lift travel restrictions on Tate, an influencer who claimed misogyny, and his brother Tristan, when the country faces criminal charges. The two, who are American and British nationals, were arrested in 2022 for suspected trafficking, misconduct, money laundering and forming an organized criminal organization. They deny any misconduct. U.S. officials reportedly filed a lawsuit with Bucharest on a phone call in early February, and then followed up on a meeting between Trump’s special envoy, Richard Grenell, and Romanian Foreign Secretary. Another insider told the newspaper that a request for a return to the brothers’ passports was made and that they were allowed to travel while they waited for the end of the court lawsuit. The brothers’ movement has been restricted since their arrest in 2022 – staying for three months before being arrested, then being arrested and then being blocked from leaving the country. The two also face charges, including allegations of rape and trafficking in the UK, and a court in Bucharest ruled that it could be extradited to the UK once a final decision was made in the Romanian case. The Romanian Special Attorney Service (DIICOT) investigated the Tate Brothers in a statement that the cases against both have not been dropped.
