    GNI AI Workshop Equipped Lagos Media Professionals to Resolve Misinformation, Utilizing AI Tools

    The GNI AI workshop is equipped with Lagos media professionals to resolve misinformation and leverage AI tools.

    Nigeria News Nalin News journalists and media professionals gathered today at Gomycode Yaba, 230 Herbert Macaulay Way in Alagomeji-Yaba, Lagos, to attend an insightful workshop organized by Google News News Initiative (GNI), the report said.

    The Nigerian news platform learned that the event aims to provide attendees with state-of-the-art AI tools and strategies to address misinformation while enhancing its reporting capabilities in an increasingly digital media landscape.

    Key Highlights of the Seminar

    The hands-on training course covers a range of basic topics, including:

    • Fighting wrong messages in the digital age: Participants explored effective techniques for identifying, verifying and opposing the spread of false information. This session highlighted the importance of fact checking and critical thinking in maintaining the integrity of news.
    • Google Precision Training: Attendees received in-depth guidance on leveraging Google Pinpoint, a powerful tool that enables journalists to analyze large datasets, including documents, audio files, and images. This training demonstrates how to extract critical information and discovery patterns in large amounts of data.
    • Introduction to laptops: The workshop introduces NotebookLM, an AI-driven research assistant designed to help users summarize, analyze and synthesize information from multiple sources. Journalists learned how to integrate this tool into their workflow to simplify research and gain more in-depth insights into complex topics.
    • Getting started with AI tools: The conference provided journalists with a basic understanding of various Google AI tools. It demonstrates the practical application of AI in content creation, data visualization, and audience engagement, helping media professionals improve reporting efficiency and accuracy.

    The workshop received highly positive feedback from participants who appreciated practical knowledge and practical experience. Many have highlighted the relevance of training in adapting to a rapidly evolving media landscape.
