    JAMB: Court cancels 16-year minimum enrollment age

    • The court ruled to lift the age limit for JAMB registration/university admission.

    • This occurs after the body limits the registration age to 16 years old.

    • The presiding judge marked the restrictions unconstitutional while ruling the case to support the public.

    The age limit for college admission has been lifted following complaints and press releases.

    This follows a court decision in the Delta State High Court on March 27, 2024.

    The Nigeria Daily Report recalls that the Joint Admissions and Admissions Committee (JAMB) limits the minimum age of 16 to university admissions.

    John filled the case for the public interest, while saying that the age limit was unconstitutional and violated articles 18 (1) and 42 of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution.

    He also seeks relief when complaining, including:

    “A constitutional mandate that will announce that the university recognizes candidates aged 16 and older violates equal educational opportunities and rights to be exempt from discrimination.

    “The JAMB circular dated October 16, 2024 is listed, and the order is subject to age restrictions.

    “A directive forces the university to recognize all qualified candidates, regardless of age.

    “The ban on restricting JAMB and universities to refuse admission only based on age.”

    After this new development, any candidate can now purchase and seat for the JAMB exam regardless of age.

    Banks start N100 atm charges today

    CBN introduces new fees for automated teller machine (ATM) transactions.

    These fees will be effective on March 1, 2025 and will allow customers to pay N100 fees on ATMs of other banks.
