Rofiat Lawal, a member of the National Youth Service Corps, was kidnapped on Tuesday on the Benin-Ore Expressway and returned to freedom after her family paid a ransom of Rs 1.1 lakh.
Lawal was kidnapped while traveling from Benin State, Edo State to Ibadan, Oyo State to restore her main mission.
The kidnapper initially demanded a ransom of 220 million guilds, which her family could not afford.
After negotiations, the kidnappers reduced the ransom to 5 million N, but Lawal’s family was able to eventually raise 1.1 million N, an account provided by the kidnappers.

“In despair, I was in school, the Muslim association, her hometown friends, my fans and her family came into contact with everyone I could.”
Agbakwara added that the ransom was sent at 4:20 pm on Friday and the lawyers were finally reunited with their family on Saturday morning.
“We waited anxiously for a few hours. Finally, around 10 p.m., we received a long-awaited call: they have been released and taken to the hospital,” Agbakwara said.
He expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the ransom and shared the news. “Your support makes this possible,” he said.

Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga, former Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has been kidnapped by Casina State University.
The incident took place on Wednesday night, February 6, in Tsiga’s hometown in the Bacori local government area.
