Akpabio's wife filed a defamation lawsuit against Natasha Akpoti seeking N25 billion damages

Ekaette Akpabio, wife of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, filed multiple lawsuits against Senator Natasha Akpoti-uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, who is suspected of defamatory comments.

Akpoti-Uduaghan claimed in an interview with Arise TV on Friday that the Senate president made sexual progress in Akwa Ibom’s office and residence. The Senate president’s wife responded that her husband had discipline, adding that the senator’s claim was “liar.”

Ekaette said in a fundamental rights lawsuit filed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court that Akpoti-uduaghan’s “scandal and mean” comments made her and her children “emotionally and psychologically abused.” Akpabio’s wife asked the court to restrict Akpoti-uduaghan from making further “malice” remarks, violating her basic human rights.

“The order grants N250,000,000,000.00 (N200 billion only) to exemplary, punitive, punitive, aggravated and general damage because she violated the applicant’s fundamental rights,” the Basic Rights lawsuit said. “In this case, this honor court may be suitable for an order or other order made in such a case.”

Ekater said Senator Kogi’s comments “damaged the claimant’s reputation and even her entire family, putting them in voice and opprobrium.” She asked the court to ask Akpoti-uduaghan to apologize to the family and publish it in two national newspapers.

“This honor court order forces the defendant to pay $100 trillion (only N1 billion) to the claimant as punitive and exemplary damages to the defendant’s destructive damage to the claimant’s libelous words of the family reputation,” part of the lawsuit. “The order of the permanent injunction limits the defendant to further speak any defamatory words or orders that lead to or spread, any defamatory words, any defamatory words against the claimant’s family reputation.”

The Senate President has not yet made public comments on the allegations of Akputi Udoahhan. Visible efforts to comment from his media aides have proven futile.
