    Rema clarifies comments on false statements by Nigerian artists

    Several award-winning singer and performer Rema made remarks with his comments on Nigerian artists and cleared the air.

    Afrobeats star Rema recently misrepresented his statement through albums about his repeated remarks about his position on Nigerian artists. In a tweet, the album Talks quoted Rema’s interview with Dazed, suggesting he implied that many Afrobeats stars failed to represent their legacy.

    However, Rema clarified that his claim was specifically about becoming one of the few mainstream artists in Benin, Nigeria, rather than a general criticism of the industry. He quoted the tweet and said: “Among the few mainstream artists in Benin. Stop 🧢”.

    Rema expressed his deep commitment to showing his culture and heritage in his initial interview. He stressed that unlike other cultures, artists in his area did not achieve mainstream success, which was crucial for him to move this representation forward.

    He said in the interview:Unlike other…cultures, not many of us respond to where we come from, do you know what I mean? So, I feel like I have to bring it every time. I still can’t stop…”
