An epic drama takes place during the traditional marriage ceremony of the bride in Mbaise, IMO. The “Umuada” group demanded that N1M funds be settled as a settlement of its traditional rights, which in-laws thought was ridiculous. Chaos and sounds were heard in the outburst of anger.

In a viral video on social media, marriage decor has been set up and many guests have been seated.

During negotiations to pay the bride’s price and other marriage requirements, Eumida insisted on a one million naira settlement before marriage.

When the groom’s family finds the price is too high, it doesn’t get along well with the groom’s family. Many people questioned whether the family wanted to sell their daughter in the voice heard in the video.

Meanwhile, many reactions delayed the viral video. While many condemn eumda’s actions, others suggest that anyone who wants to marry from IMO-State, especially those of Mbaise, must be fully prepared.

    Knowledge about Umuada

Umuada consists of married women who make up the traditional Igbo leadership system. They are often regarded as representatives of land women and can interfere with marital issues, especially during marriage ceremonies and the death of married sons.

Umuada may crack difficult cases that elders can easily give up. For example, in the case of a late married man, Umuada would question the wife of the deceased and use their traditional manipulation techniques to get the truth from her mouth. Therefore, Umuada is usually worried about in Igbo’s land, especially when one stands on their side. But when a person stands on a good side, they can be a good support system.
