Fulham condemns racism and homosexual abuse against Calvin Bassey after FA Cup defeats Manchester United

Premier League club Fulham condemned the racist and homosexual abuse of Super Hawks defender Calvin Bassey after winning the penalty shootout on Sunday, March 2 at Manchester United.

The Hut vowed to take the “strongest action” to those who sent abusive messages to the defender, which he shared on social media.

Bassey opened the scoring at Old Trafford before Bruno Fernandes’ equalizer, but West London Club won the quarter-final position after a 4-3 win in the match.

A statement on Fulham’s website said: “Fulham was shocked by the racism and homosexual abuse Calvin Bassey was subjected to on social media after yesterday’s FA Cup match against Manchester United.

“We strongly condemn this abominable act of having no place in football or society. Such an action is completely unacceptable, and we have the full support of Calvin Bassey, who will continue to receive all of our support.

“We will do everything we can to cooperate with relevant authorities to identify the perpetrators of these evil information and take the strongest form of action.

“Fulham Football Club is committed to maintaining a firm stance on discrimination in all forms and is committed to promoting a respectful and inclusive environment.”
