Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Abubakar Sadiq has kidnapped four students from the Federal University Dutsinma through bandits in the early hours of Sunday, March 2.
DSP Sadiq spoke on Tuesday, March 4 that one of the kidnapped students was rescued due to the ongoing efforts of safety operators.
“Yes, four of them were kidnapped, but our men were relentlessly trying to save one. Meanwhile, efforts are being stepped up to save the remaining three,” he said.
The attack was reportedly around 2:20 a.m. Sunday, when bandits were equipped with exquisite weapons including AK-47 rifles, attacking the Paris quarter, a student housing estate behind the university. The attackers kidnapped the victim before fleeing the bushes.
After the call in distress, security agents were mobilized to the scene, but the kidnappers had escaped the student. The Dutsinma Local Government Area is one of the security frontline zones in Katsina State, targeting robbers despite efforts by state and federal authorities to curb criminal activity in the area.
