The Nigerian judiciary has appointed 48 judges in various departments of the Federal High Court to deal with cases filed by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).
The decision was announced in a press statement on February 13, 2025 and signed by the Chief Justice of the Federal High Court. John T. Resurrectionaims to speed up the prosecution of cases of financial crime, money laundering and corruption that have long hindered Nigeria’s judicial system.
“The following judges hereby appointed to deal with the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) case of their respective departments,” the statement read.
According to Sahara figures, in Abuja, i.e., Ekwo, Jo Abdulmalik, JK Omotosho, Emeka Nwite, Ms. Liman and HJ Yilwa.
Lagos will have CJ Aneke, YS Bogoro, de Osiagor and OA Oluseyi oversee the case.
In Harcourt Port, Justice Ayua and in Mohammed will preside over the EFCC trial, while in Calabar, Justice Il Ojukwu has been appointed.
Asaba will have judges Fa Olubanjo and OA Agbaje dealing with corruption cases, while Warri will have Justice Ha Nganjiwa. Justice N. Ayo-Emmanuel is assigned to Yenagoa, and Uyo will have Justice CS Onah.
Justice SM Shuaibu will oversee Kano’s case, while Justice Aminu Garba has been assigned to Bauchi. Jos will have Judges DV Agishi and Si Tanko deal with the EFCC case.
In Rafia, Judges Mo Olajuwon and A. Onoja-Alapa will preside over the trial. Makurdi will have Ms. Abubakar and Judge Er Joshua, while Ilorin will have Justice Mo Awogboro.
