“You’ve been talking about Megan Markle, I’m Sussex right now.” Megan corrected actress Mindy Kaling after using her maiden name (video).

Meghan Markle did not waste any time setting a record, when actress Mindy Kaling kept calling her with her maiden name.

In Meghan’s “New Netflix Series,” she and Kaling collaborated on hosting a garden party for the kids.

During the conversation, the actress repeatedly referred to her as “Meghan Markle”, prompting the Duchess of Sussex to correct her.

“It’s so interesting, too, that you keep saying Meghan Markle.

“You have kids, you’re gone, ‘No, I’m sharing my name with the kids.'” Megan continued. “I don’t know how meaningful this makes to me, but it’s just so much, it’s our last name, our little last name.”

In an interview with People magazine published on March 3, Meghan shared why the Sussex surname is so special.

She said: “I like that’s what Archie, Lili, h and me are with me, and I’m all together. She also calls it “part of our love story.”

Since the 2018 wedding, Meghan and Harry’s children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, have used Sussex as their last name.

Meanwhile, Kaling recently gave birth to his third child, reflecting on his friendship with Meghan during the 2025 Golden Globes on January 5. Carlin recalls how the Duchess invited her to Montecito and asked her, “Do you want to attend my show?”
