Rio Ferdinand believes that Mo Salah

    Rio Ferdinand

Football legend Rio Ferdinand announced that Mo Salah is currently the outstanding candidate to win a men’s ball or a man’s player later this year.

Salah has scored 30 goals in 39 games this season, bringing his club to the top of the Premier League and the last 16 in the Champions League.

“At the moment, I don’t think anyone else is on the podium,” Ferdinand said on TNT Sports this week.

Ferdinand speaks before Liverpool clashes with Paris Saint-Germain, who will meet with Aston Villa or Club Brugge in the quarterfinals.

However, Ferdinand believes that the 32-year-old Egyptian will likely miss the best individual award for World Football if Liverpool doesn’t win or at least enter the Champions League.

He added: “I think when you go through the knockout stage, the Champions League works and there are people who start to stand out and they (Ballon d’Or contenders) eventually get there.

“It really comes down to the moments of big games. You can throw Sarara there, you can throw [Ousmane] If PSG goes further, Dembele is there. [Kylian] Mbappe will be there, [as will] Vinicius [Junior] and [Jude] Bellingham.

‘Who maintains his position and reaches the semi-finals and the finals will win the game. If they (Liverpool) win the Champions League, I believe he will play a big role.
