U.S. President Donald Trump is reportedly preparing for a new travel ban that could ban Muslim countries from entering the United States.
Reuters reported that Trump demanded a review of foreign security and censorship risks almost complete and expected a new travel ban, citing three sources “familiar with the matter.”
Afghanistan and Pakistan may be on the list in the first travel ban that was escalated in early 2017 and others in seven Muslim-majority countries.
Former President Joe Biden repealed Trump’s ban in 2021, but new threats from terrorists traveling from the Middle East to the United States have inspired Trump to take action again.
Trump said during the campaign that he would expand his travel ban to include people in Gaza after Hamas’ terrorist attack on Israel.
The president is expected to announce several new execution orders later this afternoon as he will go all out in the first 100 days.
The new ban could affect thousands of Afghans who were cleared as refugee or special immigration visas in the United States because they were at risk of the Taliban working for the United States during the 20 Years of War in their home country.
The three sources and another person also demand disagree that Afghanistan will be included in the country with a comprehensive travel ban.
Pakistan also recommends tolerance, three sources said.
