The Senate has suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, for six months, effective March 6, 2025 for alleged misconduct and violation of Senate Rules 2023 (amended).
The Senate Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petition Committee, chaired by Senator Neda Imasuen, has a decision to suspend her decision.
Senator Imasun said Akpoti-uduaghan failed to comply with Senate rules and refused to grant him an invitation, and therefore failed to comply with the Senate rules when the committee’s recommendations were made this morning.
Senator Imasuen said reading the committee’s recommendations:
“First of all, the Senate did suspend Senator Natasha Akpoti-uduaghan for six months as she completely violated the regular rules of the Senate and brought the host and the entire Senate to public.
Second, Senator Natasha Uduaghan should submit a written apology to the Senate before reconsideration.
Third, the Senate has suspended Natasha Akpoti-uduaghan from March 6, 2025.
Fourth, her office was locked during the suspension and handed over all Senate property to the clerk of the National Assembly.
5. During her suspension, she is not allowed to be seen in the Senate or near the National Assembly (including her staff).
Six, her salary and allowances, including the salary and allowances of her legislative assistant, were suspended and revoked to her during its suspension.
Seven, during her suspension, she was banned from representing herself locally and internationally on behalf of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. ”
After a prolonged debate, the senators adopted these suggestions through voice votes and made minor amendments to the sixth proposal, allowing Senator Natasha’s aides to receive their salaries and allowances to avoid excessive suffering.
Senator Natasha briefly interrupted the lawsuit, saying the injustice against her would not last. After that, she was escorted out.
