Nigeria’s Super Falcons continues to lead African women’s football, ranking 36th in the world in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings released on March 6, 2025. The team has maintained this position since March 2024 and has maintained its 1,622 rankings in the rankings in June, August and December.
In Africa, South Africa’s Banyan Trees are out of the 53rd globally, Morocco (61st), Zambia (62nd) and Ghana (66th) to exclude the top five teams from the mainland.
The global rankings still show that the United States ranks first and Spain (current world champion) ranks second. Germany, the UK and Japan ranked in the top five in the top five, followed by Sweden, Canada, Brazil, North Korea and the Netherlands.
FIFA stressed that the first ranking release of 2025 included a record 196 countries, while Djibouti made its debut in No. 195. The ranking reflects the recent 127 international competitions, including the 2027 Brazilian FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
