    • Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has expressed disappointment but offered his full support to teammate William Troost-Ekong after the 32-year-old defender decided to retire from international duty after 10 years and 83 appearances for Nigeria.

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has expressed disappointment over the international retirement of his teammate William Troost-Ekong, who ended his 10-year career with the national team on Thursday.

Iwobi praised the 32-year-old centre-back, who was initially expected to captain the team at the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, for his contribution to Nigeria.

“It’s obviously a sad thing for us because he was a big part of our team,” Iwobi told SportsTV. “At the end of the day, I wish him the best, he is a brother, he has helped Nigeria and he has helped me. I wish him all the best in the next chapter of his life and we will all support him. “

Troost-Ekong retired after making 83 appearances for the three-time African champions.

In other news… New information has emerged on why BBNaija star Mercy Atang’s marriage to her husband unexpectedly ended.

The mother-of-one hosted a glamorous wedding in 2024, with photos and videos dominating social media. Mercy also shared the affectionate clip online at the time, proudly speaking about the special role her father-in-law assigned her after the ceremony.

However, the marriage only lasted a year. Messi later confirmed the split after a curious fan asked her about it on social media.

Following her confirmation, a social media user named Hector Babe claimed to know what led to the union’s breakup. According to her, Messi’s online lifestyle may have strongly influenced the outcome of the marriage.

Hector accused the reality star of constantly dancing and showing off her curves online, questioning why a married woman would engage in such content and who she was doing it for. She added that she was relieved that King David Oyekanmi had moved on.

Other fans also weighed in on the matter. One commenter suggested that Messi may have been too caught up in the glamor of celebrity life that led to her reluctance to move abroad to live with her husband.
