High-quality pasta has a higher protein content and takes a few minutes to cook, but you can also cook a little bit or cook in a sauce and still have a good texture. Cooking ‘Al Dente’ is also easier.

How to Cook Pasta
Cooking the pasta until it’s al dente (meaning “tooth” or “bite”) means it will be cooked through, but it’s still firm but still very chewy.
Most spaghetti will give you a boiling time, thus cooking the pasta thoroughly – you need to cook for one to two minutes or two to coat Al Dente Pasta. Fresh pasta can never be Al Dente.
What kind of sauce does the spaghetti come with?

Obviously, which sauce you want to pair with pasta, but in Italy, lighter, more refined seasonings are used as they stick to the lean pasta chain.
Oil-based seasonings such as Aglio e Olio (garlic and oil), creamy Cacio e pepe (cheese and black pepper) or Carbonara, Puttanesca and seafood sauce, such as Alle Vongole (with clams), are usually served with long thin pasta. Ragu (Bognese) is always served with Tagliatelle in Italy – elsewhere everyone eats it with spaghetti.

Pasta brands cook at different times – you need to follow the package instructions instead of using the universal timing.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and season with salt.
- Add the spaghetti and stir gently until all chains sink under water. Stir again to make sure they don’t get stuck.
- Follow the packaging instructions, but please wait for 2 minutes at the recommended time.
- When time bites into a chain, check the pasta – it should be cooked through, but still firm. Cook for another 1-2 minutes if you want, or you prefer the pasta to be soft.
- Drain, keep a little pasta to add to the sauce. Add the pasta to the sauce immediately so that it won’t stick together when it cools.
