In a much-needed development, food prices in Nigeria have gradually begun to decline, which has brought relief to many families struggling with inflation.
Recent market surveys conducted by the country in Lagos and other major cities across the country have shown that staple food costs have steadily declined in the past few weeks.
The survey highlights that basic commodities that have risen in prices in recent months, such as rice, corn and vegetable oil, are now increasingly affordable for the average consumer.

1. Changjing Foreign Rice (50kg) – ₦82,000 to 85,000 (formerly ₦95,000 to ₦100,000)
2. Imported short grain rice (50kg) – ₦65,000 to 67,000 (formerly 80,000 to ₦90,000)
3. Local rice (50kg) – about 89,000 (formerly 90,000 to ₦100,000)
4. Xiaomi (4L Paint Bucket) – ₦4,000 (formerly ₦4,500)
5. Guinea Corn (4L Paint Bucket) – ₦4,000 (formerly ₦4,500)
6. Soybean beans (4L paint bucket) – ₦6,000 (previously 6,500)
