Nigeria’s Transmission Company (TCN) announced a 7-hour power outage in certain areas of the Federal Capital Region (FCT). According to a statement by TCN General Manager of Public Affairs Ndidi Mbah, the power outage will be Saturday, February 22, 2025 and Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 9:00 to 4:00 pm every day.
The scheduled interruption is due to the annual preventive maintenance of the two transformers by the APO 132/33KV transmission substation in Abuja. MBAH explained that maintenance will involve 2x100MVA, TR3 and TR4 Transformers, during which time the Abuja Disco will not be able to obtain bulk power from these transformers.
The planned power disruption will affect multiple areas including the National Hospital, G2 Injection Station, Garki, District 1 and Asokoro. Other affected locations include the APO Legislative District, APO Placement, GUDU, APO Mechanics and the surrounding community.
TCN stressed that interruptions during maintenance are necessary and assured the customer that power will be restored after maintenance is completed. The company also apologizes for any inconvenience caused by affected residents and businesses.
