He died peacefully at his residence in Leki, Lagos State on Friday, February 14, 2025.
The family confirmed his death in a statement provided to journalists on Friday.
“He was in his Lekki, 96, Nigeria, at 96, on Friday, February 14, 2025.” Statement reading.
Yoruba idols and staunch righteousness
Adebanjo is an outstanding lawyer, former organization secretary of the former Action Organization, and a national leader of Afenifere, a fearless advocate of democracy and justice.
His 94-year-old wife, Christy Ayo-Adebanjo, survived the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family said, “We will always cherish his commitment to fight for truth, fairness and justice. His belief and struggle for truly independent and progressive Nigeria is complete until he breathes his last breath, and he struggles for it. ”
The family revealed that it is in consultation with Adebanjo’s friends, colleagues and various interest groups in Nigeria to finalize plans suitable for the funeral. Details of funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
Ayo Adebanjo Close in Lekki Stage 1, Ayo Adebanjo Close in Lagos and his residence in Isanya Ogbo near Ogun State Ijebu Ode, opened a custody register at his residence No. 8.
