A college student has done it after allegedly attending the off-campus fraternity ceremony.
Caleb Wilson, a student at Southern University, attended the Omega PSI PHI Brotherhood when he went bankrupt.
Sources told officials that those attending the event reportedly stood in a line when Wilson collapsed.
Authorities said Wilson did not respond when a group of friends brought him to the Baton Rouge Hospital early Thursday morning.
According to investigators, the organization was in North Sherwood Forest Community Park.
Hospital staff announced Wilson de@d and called the Baton Rouge Police Department at 3:15 a.m. to trigger a death investigation.
“Southern University and A&M College know that an off-campus incident could lead to the death of student Caleb Wilson, a junior in New Orleans, majoring in mechanical engineering. The campus community expressed condolences to his family, classmates and loved ones,” the university said in a statement.
Southern University said it is working with the Baton Rouge Police Department.
An autopsy is being conducted to determine the exact cause of de@th.
