After nearly escaping three months of imprisonment, the controversial Nigerian artist portable man turned to tradition and prayer.
The singer’s real name is Habeeb Okikiola, sentenced by the IFO District Court of Ogun State, but avoided jail by paying the court-stated N30,000 fine.
After verdict, Portable posted a video on Instagram that is now in rounds online. In the video, portable grabs can be seen chanting in Yoruba and praying for peace and money. “I don’t want the Wahara. I just want money, make money.” He sang at a seemingly spiritual moment.
Portable was convicted on two counts of assault related to the 2022 incident, and he was charged with defeating an Osimosu Emmanuel and conspiring with others to commit the act. He also faces theft involving music equipment, but is not guilty of it.
Despite the conviction, the court gave him an option to pay N30,000 instead of service time, while the first count was n10,000 and the second count was n20,000. He was briefly returned but returned to the court for the final ruling.
Now back home, the singer seems to be reset mentally – begging the universe or the gods to keep calm and cash.
