    After rejecting his progress

The Odo State High Court sentenced a 31-year-old man, Ojo Balogun, to 18 years in prison and assaulted a 23-year-old woman (name, name) who refused her own progress.

Balogun was arraigned in 2021 for illegal attacks and R3PE. Before the trial, he was remanded in the Olokuta Correctional Center.

Judge Yemi Fasanmi ruled in his verdict on February 26, 2025 that the prosecution proved that there was no doubt about his case, and both charges were found guilty of Balogun.

The judge sentenced him to two years of indecent attacks, while R@PE sentenced him to 16 years, simultaneously.

Prosecutor Ho Falowo told the court that Balogun attacked the victim at Oje Farm in Afin-Akoko at 2:30 pm on June 20, 2020.

He hit her in the face with a stick, beat her with a stick, and then dragged her into the bush, where he raped her Faloo said the crimes violated Sections 360, 357 and 358 of the Criminal Law, Cap. 37, Vol. 1. “Ondo State Law”, 2006.

The prosecution convened five witnesses and tender evidence, including statements, medical reports and a tear of a pair of pants.

The victim recounted her ordeal in court, noting that she was on her way to the farm when Balogun attacked her.

“He hit me in the eyes with a stick, beat me with a stick, dragged me into the bushes. As I struggled, he threw away my pants and pressed my mouth. When he r3 r3 r3 my mouth, blood poured out of mine. After that, he ran away.

She added that she rejected Balogun’s love progress in 2019, which caused dissatisfaction.

Balogun denied the R3 victim but admitted to assaulting her.

However, the judge dismissed his defense on the grounds of medical reports and witness testimony.

“The doctor’s report confirmed the forced infiltration. Bruises, lacerations of pants, and the defendant’s own admission confirmed the case indicted.”

He condemned the rising cases of sexual violence and pointed out that Balogun should have no sympathy.

“The court must send a strong message. Sexual assault must be bitten in the bud,” the judge declared.
