
Several people bumped into a group of people at a street festival in Vancouver, Canada, and several were injured.
Police said on social media that people gathered at the Lapu Lapu Festival at the Philippine community party when the car entered the street shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 26.
The exact number of casualties has not been confirmed.
One witness can be heard screaming “Oh my god” in a videotape showing the consequences of the crash, and another shouted, “There is a baby over there! There is a baby under the truck.”


“Many people were killed and others were injured after the driver entered the crowd,” the Vancouver Police Department said.
The driver, who is believed to be a 30-year-old man from Vancouver, has been detained.

Shocking videos on social media showed at least seven victims lying on a road with debris scattered around.
Some people were not moved and seemed to be bleeding.
Black SUVs with damaged frontlines can also be seen on the scene.


With the emergence of news of the crash, tribute is pouring in.
“This horrible incident was shocked and deeply saddened during today’s Lapu Lapu Day event. We will provide more information as soon as possible.”
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney wrote on X this morning: “It’s hard for me to hear the horrors at the Lapu Lapu Festival in Vancouver tonight.
“I express my deepest condolences to everyone who was killed and injured, the Philippine community in Canada, and to Vancouver.
“We are all mourning with you. We are closely monitoring the situation and thanking the first responders for their quick action.”
