    • The Chairman of Essien Udim LGA in Akwa Ibom State has been strongly criticized after he posted photos of the “essential equipment” he provided to local security forces, which was limited to machetes, flashlights, raincoats and rain boots.
    • The Facebook post, intended to showcase efforts to increase security around government facilities, sparked a backlash as Nigerians questioned the usefulness of such a basic tool against armed criminals.

Ntiedo Effiong Usoro, Chairman of Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, was heavily criticized on social media after he proudly displayed equipment he provided to the local security unit of the council to deal with insecurity.

Usoro shared the photo on Facebook and wrote: “Yesterday, in my office, I provided the Parliament’s local security unit with the necessary equipment to protect the Parliament Secretariat and other government facilities within its premises.”

The so-called “essential equipment” includes: machete, flashlight, raincoat, rain boots

Nigerians were quick to criticize the chairman, questioning the effectiveness of the supplies against modern gun-toting criminals. Many also expressed concern about the image of an old man among the security guards, questioning his ability to keep the community safe with such rudimentary tools.

In other news… The woman named Esther, who recently went viral for trying to dance intimately with a friend’s husband at a wedding reception, has publicly apologized for the misunderstanding.

The incident attracted widespread attention after a video showed the bride quickly stepping in and pushing Esther away from her groom.

In a statement shared on social media, Esther insisted she had no romantic intentions for her groom and explained her actions:

“Her husband was a very loving man to me. He was so kind and I just wanted to dance with him. I had no idea what I was doing could be so wrong,” she said.

The viral incident sparked widespread social media debate, ranging from humor to criticism of public behavior and dynamics between friends and married couples.

Reactions online were mixed, with many questioning her explanation:

@D3 criticized the intimacy of the dance: “‘All you want to do is dance’ and you give your friend’s husband yansh. This sex never seems to surprise me. I bet she and her husband must have done it before this happened publicly. Jealousy and Pepe’s body would have worried her.”

@WHOSGRAENIII focuses on her words: “Did anyone hear her say ‘he was a very loving man to me’, abii nah my ears”
