
Police in Akwa Ibom state rescued a victim from the Ikot Ekpene local government area after a gunfight with the kidnappers, forcing them to flee.
State Police Department spokesman DSP Timfon John revealed this to Newsmen, attributeing the successful action to the command’s commitment to protesting crime and ensuring residents’ safety.
According to PPRO, the incident occurred on February 13, 2025, when a man (refused) kidnapped along Okop Eto Road and brought to an unknown destination. The command’s operators acted with reliable intelligence and began a swift action that brought the kidnappers into battle with the gun.
“Damped by high-level firepower, the gangster suffered serious gunshot wounds, leaving the victim unharmed,” John said.
PPRO added that Police Commissioner CP Baba Mohammed Azare praised the police’s swift response and assured residents of the headquarters’ determination to get rid of the criminal situation.
He also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
