Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic’s final year student died tragically during only karate training held on campus.
John is studying for a higher National Diploma (HND) in the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic and is known for his active participation in a variety of extracurricular activities, including martial arts.
On the day of the incident, he left the student cabin outside the school and participated in his regular Saturday morning karate training.
After entering the training ring, John suddenly fainted, attracting immediate attention from his peers. Sloppy, he was taken to a private hospital in Ikot Ekpene, but medical staff there refused to acknowledge him and instead handed him over to the general hospital ikot Ekpene. Refusal to make his friends anxious, hopeful transformation.
At the General Hospital, doctors conducted thorough examinations, but sadly, they declared John dead when he arrived.
The news shocked his classmates who accompanied him as they struggled to accept the unfortunate reality.
A witness spoke with Nsoefen Mark Akpan, president of the Daily Post, News and Media Research Students Association (JAMSSA), described the gloomy atmosphere as students rushed to the hospital and insisted that doctors might misunderstand it.
To be incredible, the students decided to take John’s body to a nearby church in search of spiritual intervention. Despite the prayer provided, there was no sign of recovery.
The spiritualists who tried to resurrect him claimed that John had transitioned to the spiritual world, further deepening the sorrow of his peers.
Eventually, they returned the dead body to the morgue, but many students were still on the scene, still hoping for a miracle.
Department head Inemesit Umoren arrived at the hospital to address the grieving students, helping them deal with the devastating news before leaving.
John’s parents were soon told about the tragedy.
