The AWKA’s All Progressive Conference (APC) governor primary was damaged by violence earlier in the day, accusing mobs and chaos of disturbances.
But, according to party sources who spoke with the Pioneer, calmness resumed, with the primary elections starting around 1:00 p.m.
The report shows that the mob allegedly aligned with aspiring people from southern Anambra blocked the entrance to the venue. Even in attendance of security agents, they reportedly allowed only representatives who only confirmed the candidates to enter.
In the midst of turmoil, police were forced to deploy tear gas to disperse the crowd and control the situation.
When one aspiring man, Professor Obiora Okonkwo, arrived at the venue, something positive changed. After discussions with security personnel, the door was opened to allow representatives to enter and facilitate recovery of the process.
Some representatives who escaped the venue earlier due to chaos began to return to certification, laying the foundation for the original man’s planned stage.
In related developments, Paul Chukwuma, a frontline aspirant, resigned from APC’s resignation on the eve of the primary election. He cited allegedly manipulating the primary, in favor of another aspiring man, which was why he left.
Naija News Another aspiring man, Chukwuma Umeoji, quit the primary election, the report said.
