The political rally organized by new employees was scheduled to be held in Yenagoa on Saturday, April 12 and has been rescheduled for April 26, 2025. The announcement was held on Friday, April 11 by George Turnah of Mon, the convener of the event and the leader of the group’s Belsal State Chapter at a press conference in Yenagoa.
The rally attracted potential professional mobilization efforts, which is expected to be an important political statement amid the growing undercurrents in Bielsa. However, Turnah believes overlapping engagement and respect for IJAW leadership consultations are the reasons for the delay.
“Several Pro-Diri and Pro-Tambuwal groups announced a solidarity gathering for the same date and location we originally planned for the inauguration,” Turnah said. “As a peaceful and character-driven organization, we decided to change our activities to make the space for these groups express themselves and avoid any inappropriate tensions.”
The new employee described himself as a grassroots movement that was consistent with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s updated agenda and has been active in the South-South region. Political analysts see the group as part of a broader adjustment ahead of future elections.
Turnah reiterated the organization’s support for national unity and development, noting: “We believe that President Tinubu’s success is the success of Nigeria. Our movement is about development, peace and empowerment, not division.”
He expressed his gratitude to stakeholders, customers and members of the campaign to continue to support them and called for continued momentum as the rescheduled rally is prepared.
He added: “We urge our members and the good people of Belsal to maintain momentum when they hold a successful and peaceful rally on April 26.”
