The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has taken action over the recent arrest of famous socialite Pretty Mike.
He was arrested at a nightclub on suspicion of drug possession.
NDLEA Media and Publicity Director Femi Babafemi in a statement stressed that any event organized for the use, distribution or abuse of illegal substances is considered a criminal offence.
Babafemi detailed that the NDLEA conducted a raid on a drug-related party at Proxy Nightclub, No. 7, Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, from the evening of Saturday, October 25, to the early hours of Sunday, October 26, 2025. More than 100 guests were detained, including club owner Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, also known as Pretty Mike, and his manager Joachin Miller.
He further warned nightclub owners and party-goers that it is illegal to organize, host or attend drug parties.
The statement read, “These ‘drug gangs’ breach the clear provisions of the NDLEA Act and will be treated as serious drug offences.
“At the drug party at Proxy nightclub, the organizers openly produced and distributed leaflets, inviting fun-seekers to gather together and commit crimes. This behavior not only constitutes inciting crime, but if condoned, it is also an insult to the country’s law enforcement capabilities.
“Nigeria is currently grappling with very high rates of drug abuse, especially among our youth. These illicit drug parties not only contribute to the drug scourge but equally serve as hubs for new recruitment of drug users and actively undermine our current national efforts to maintain public health and safety.
“In the most recent case, the National Drug and Crime Administration was meticulous and professional throughout the raid and operation. Acting on intelligence about the party, our undercover agents conducted surveillance of the facility, pre-purchased illegal drugs from inside the club, and over a four-hour period between 11pm on Saturday and 3am on Sunday during the party, our agents observed and documented drug dealing and abuse before we ultimately disrupted this blatant public display of drugs and made an arrest.
“In line with global best practice, all participants initially arrested were later briefed, interviewed, counseled and released within hours of their detention, while the two main suspects: Pretty Mike and his manager Joachin Miller, remain in custody following the seizure of 384.882 kilograms of Canadian Loud (a potent form of cannabis and other substances) from the club store.
“While the agency will increase surveillance and pursue full legal action against perpetrators, property, hotel and event center owners are at risk of federal seizure and forfeiture of their assets if found to have knowingly hosted such illegal events. Those detained in the current cases will face prosecution, and we will apply for forfeiture of the Proxy Night Club property where the drugs were found.”
“The agency urges all patriotic Nigerians, parents, religious and community leaders and concerned citizens to remain vigilant, report such activities and cooperate with the NDLEA to counter this threat to the nation’s well-being.”
