    Anambra police arrest lady, three others for burning 74-year-old woman in wheelchair in Abagana

    Anambra State Police operatives attached to the Abagana Divisional Police Headquarters have arrested four suspects, including a 21-year-old lady, Chinenye Ekwenugo of Ifitedunu, for burning a 74-year-old woman A chakra in Abagana.

    The other three suspects identified by the command spokesperson SP Tochukukwu Ikenga include, Uzochukukukwu Okeke ‘M’, 47, Fidel Anayo ‘M’, 60, and Ikenna Anene ‘M’ 54 years old, both from Abagana.

    “The operators also recovered the deceased, the wheelchair and the coffin from burning. During interrogation by police operatives, the suspect Chinenye admitted that her boyfriend Ifeanyi Igwe was present in whole and three others set the victim on fire before security operatives intervened Got a coffin to bury her.”

    According to Ikenga, the operatives also swung into action and arrested the main suspect, Ifeanyi Igwe, who is currently on the run.

    “The body of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary for post-mortem examination and further investigations into the cause of death. Reacting to reports of the incident, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, charged calm and ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the Commandant A full investigation is being carried out by the Ministry of Criminal Investigation.
