British Nigeria boxer Anthony Joshua revealed he will soon undergo surgery to resolve an ongoing problem that has been delaying his ring return.
The British have been losing money since the matchup against Daniel Dubois at Wembley in September 2024, and his future surfaced on the back of a devastating knockout defeat.
Before the possible fight, he spoke to Dazn on Saturday night, explaining why he wouldn’t be in the race soon.
“When will you want me back, people?” Joshua asked in the interview. “I want my body to be right. My elbow actually had to undergo some surgery.
‘At some time in May, minor surgery was performed. I’m finalizing the details.
“It will take me out for about six to eight weeks and then when I get healed, I will come back.”
Reports about Fury’s round continue to improve pace, Frank Warren, a former Fury salesman, told Mail Sport this week: “It will be about whether Tyson is willing to do it, and whether AJ is willing to do it. AJ is still active and wants to fight – it’s a fight that has never happened before. Everyone wants to see it.”
Warren had previously suggested returning with Joshua’s “generational battle”.
Two heavyweight stars exchanged verbs regularly and engaged in discussions, but nothing serious was achieved.
